SAN RAMON, CA — An Antioch man was arrested in February after he allegedly fired a shotgun through the floor of a San Ramon apartment almost hitting a baby directly below. Officers responded to downstairs apartment in the Promontory Terrace apartment complex in San Ramon on February 11 to investigate the shooting, according to San Ramon police.
"Officers learned that an occupant from within an upper story apartment, discharged a firearm, which resulted in the round penetrating the floor below," Lieutenant Cary Goldberg told Patch. "The discharged round was located within the apartment directly below, and reportedly nearly struck an infant."
The suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Antioch resident William Millard, was found in an upstairs apartment. Officers arrested Millard and the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office later charged him with possession of a short-barreled shotgun, possession of methamphetamine, stolen property and burglary tools. No other injuries were reported and police did not release the age of the baby.
